About photocraft.im

photocraft.im is an independent, unofficial guide to the open-source PhotoCraft image editor. Who runs it, how pages are written, and where downloads come from.

Unofficial community guideUpdated Oct 10, 2026

photocraft.im is an independent community guide to PhotoCraft, the free, open-source image editor written in Rust. We are not the PhotoCraft developers, and this is not the project's official website.

Who makes PhotoCraft

PhotoCraft is developed in the open by the ArtCraft community in the storytold/photocraft repository on GitHub. Its official page is getartcraft.com/apps/photocraft, and the community talks on the ArtCraft Discord. Bug reports and feature requests belong in the project's issue tracker, not here.

Why this site exists

PhotoCraft moves fast — several releases in its first week — but the project has no hosted user documentation yet. Its knowledge is spread across the README, the docs/ folder, an unpublished mdBook and hundreds of GitHub issues. This site collects that into practical guides: which file to download, how to install it on each platform, how to switch the interface language, keyboard shortcuts, fixes for common problems, and plain-language release notes. Everything is available in English and Simplified Chinese.

How pages are written

  • Primary sources only. Every guide is based on the official repository, release notes and issue tracker, and lists those sources at the bottom of the page.
  • Dated. Each page shows when it was last updated. PhotoCraft changes quickly, so when a page and its sources disagree, trust the sources.
  • Honest about maturity. PhotoCraft is early alpha. We describe what works today and say plainly what does not.

Where downloads come from

Every download link on photocraft.im points to the official GitHub releases. The one exception is the online editor: it serves the official web build, unmodified, from this site's own storage, and that page shows its version and checksum. Apart from that, we don't host or mirror any files, and we never repackage or modify them. Be careful with "special editions" or repackaged installers from other sources: the official builds already include a Chinese interface and many other languages, and each release publishes SHA-256 checksums so you can verify what you downloaded.

Ads and analytics

photocraft.im has no accounts. To cover its running costs it shows clearly labelled banner and native ads from a third-party ad network. Ads are kept away from download buttons and file lists. If an ad offers you a "download", it is not PhotoCraft: the real files are only the ones listed from the official GitHub release. The ad network may use cookies or similar technology to deliver and measure ads.

The site also uses analytics to count page views and see which guides are useful.

The online editor itself (/app/) shows no ads and loads no analytics or other third-party scripts. Images you open there stay on your device and are never uploaded. The editor keeps its preferences in your browser's local storage.

Trademarks

PhotoCraft and ArtCraft are names of their respective owners. Adobe and Photoshop are registered trademarks of Adobe Inc. photocraft.im is not affiliated with or endorsed by the PhotoCraft developers, ArtCraft or Adobe; product names are used only to describe compatibility and comparisons.
